Sustainable Taiwan
Taipei, Taiwan, 2005-2011

Our mission, “Towards a Sustainable Taiwan,” is to establish each students’ and participants’ capacity to engage in the emerging discourse on ecological design and sustainability. This is a joint endeavor by the University of Texas School of Architecture (UTSoA), National Taipei University of Technology (NTUT) and National Taiwan University (NTU). Students and faculty from both UTSoA and NTUT will engage in both a civic and professional discourse within Taiwan’s political, economic and social/political context. Our emphasis is on building the capacity of students to investigate, evaluate, and construct a critical discourse through their work in their various disciplines. We promote a collaborative interdisciplinary approach, which we assume to be necessary for any long-term solutions, and, in our opinion, is also one of the opportunities created within sustainable discourse.
